SONNENT OF SAMSARA
Sonnet of Samsara made a powerful impact in Thiruvananthapuram following its acclaimed debut at the Serendipity Arts Festival. Presented by the Trivandrum Centre for Performing Arts (TCPA), the performance captivated audiences with its immersive exploration of life’s cyclical nature and contemporary global challenges.
Co-produced by Serendipity Arts Festival and Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts, in collaboration with Kinetika Design Studio (London) and supported by the British Council, the production blended Indian classical forms with contemporary dance, live percussion, and an evocative soundscape by M D Pallavi.
Choreographed by Jayachandran Palazhy and performed by the Attakkalari Dance Company, with lighting by Shymon Chelad and costumes by Aloka D’souza, Sonnet of Samsara was met with an enthusiastic response, offering a moving reflection on transformation and the human experience.

On August 24, 2024, TCPA hosted a memorable concert featuring the renowned Indian rock band Agam at the Uday Palace Convention Centre. The event, “Concert for Wayanad”, aimed to raise funds for the rebuilding efforts in Wayanad following the devastating landslides. The concert was held from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM and saw a great turnout of music enthusiasts and supporters.
The concert was a perfect blend of Agam’s distinctive style, which fuses Indian classical music with rock, captivating the audience with their powerful performances.
The event successfully garnered attention and support, marking an important milestone for TCPA in its mission to engage the community through cultural and charitable initiatives.

As part of the pre-Onam celebrations, the Trivandrum Centre for Performing Arts (TCPA) organized lively Karaoke Nights on the 15th and 16th of September at Manaveeyam Veedhi. Open to the public, these sessions invited participants to showcase their singing talents. The event created a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere, drawing music enthusiasts of all ages and setting the stage for the festive season.
On 21 September 2024, the Nisagandhi Auditorium witnessed the electrifying debut of Arakavyuham – The Percussion Band as part of Onakkuttayma, an Onam celebration organized by the Trivandrum Centre for Performing Arts (TCPA) in collaboration with Asianet News. The band, led by alumni of Kalamandalam, featured a stellar lineup: Syam Kishore (male vocals), Anagha (female vocals), Amegh (guitar and drums), Adhi (cajón and idaykka), Adarsh Arakkan (mridangam, wambooka, kanjira, and konnakol), Hari (mizhavu), Sai (chenda), Shahul (thimila), and Jyo (shakers and rain stick). Fusing Kerala’s traditional temple percussion with Western instruments and Kathakali Padams, the performance created a spellbinding musical experience that garnered thunderous applause from an audience.

Shahabaz Padunnu – As part of the Onakkuttayma Onam celebration organized by the Trivandrum Centre for Performing Arts (TCPA) in collaboration with Asianet News, the legendary playback singer Shahabaz Aman delivered an unforgettable two-and-a-half-hour recital titled Shahabaz Padunnu. His soulful renditions of ghazals captivated the hearts of over 3,500 attendees at the Nisagandhi Auditorium, blending melody and poetry to create an emotionally charged musical evening. The performance highlighted Shahabaz Aman’s unparalleled artistry and left an indelible mark on Trivandrum’s cultural landscape.

Theatre Workshop
On October 26 and 27, 2024, the Trivandrum Centre for Performing Arts (TCPA) conducted a two-day theatre workshop for women aged 40 and above at the Kerala Arts and Crafts Village. Led by renowned theatre artist Murali Menon, the workshop focused on self-awareness, embracing one’s strengths, and achieving self-realization through the art
of living rather than acting. Enriching the experience were insightful sessions by Dr. Anupama (gynecologist), Adv. Sandhya, and AmarMind Carter, adding valuable perspectives on health, law, and emotional well-being. The workshop left participants inspired and empowered.
